ELAC knocked us over when they brought by theVELA BS 403stand-mount speakers for us to hear. Though my listening session was stereo only, I couldn’thelp but wonder how impressive a 5.1-channelVELA Serieshome theater system must sound.

The CC 401 pairs two 6″ high-tech woofers with a hand-assembled JET 5 folded ribbon tweeter.

That’s because the CC 401 center channel uses the sameJET 5 folded ribbon tweeter as the other speakers in the VELA lineup. This hand-assembledtweetersits between two of ELAC’s 6″ aluminum and paper “sandwich” woofers.

This driver combo creates stunningly realistic sound that makes spoken word and movie soundtracks sparkle with clarity.

Upscale fit and finish

The CC 401 features a sturdy, reinforced enclosure to reduce vibration and eliminate unwanted resonance. Its beautiful, grilleless design features a wood veneer exterior and a high-gloss lacquer finish that matches other VELA Series speakers.
